Key format & how to get one

Prefix: pplx- Example: pplx-abc123... Perplexity keys start with pplx-. 1. Sign in at https://www.perplexity.ai 2. Open Settings > API and generate a key 3. Copy the key (starts with pplx-) 4. Add credit to use the Sonar API

How to test

  1. Copy your key from Perplexity Settings > API (it starts with pplx-).
  2. Paste it into the tester above and click Test Key.
  3. Green means valid; red shows the exact error and fix.

Common errors

CauseFix
Invalid or revoked key.Create a new key in Perplexity Settings > API and paste it here.
No API credit on the account.Add credit in Perplexity Settings > API, then retry.
Rate limit exceeded.Wait a few seconds and retry.
