How to Use the Snowflake Cost Calculator

1. Select your cloud provider and region.
2. Choose your Snowflake edition.
3. Select warehouse type and size.
4. For multi-cluster warehouses, set minimum and maximum clusters — those two fields appear only when you choose the Multi-cluster type.
5. Enter your estimated monthly usage:
   • Hours of warehouse operation
   • Storage requirements (including Time Travel and Fail-safe)
   • Data transfer volume and type

The cost table updates as you change inputs — the "Calculate Cost" button is there when you want to commit a figure, but you do not have to press it to see the numbers.

Compute is the product of three things: the credit price for your edition, the credits per hour your warehouse size consumes, and the hours you run it. Warehouse sizes step by powers of two — XS burns 1 credit/hour, S burns 2, M burns 4, and so on up to 6XL — so moving up one size doubles compute spend for the same wall-clock hours. That single fact explains most surprising Snowflake bills.

Understanding Snowflake pricing

• Compute costs vary by edition and warehouse size. Higher editions carry a higher price per credit; larger warehouses consume more credits per hour.
• Storage covers permanent, transient, and temporary data, plus Time Travel and Fail-safe. This calculator takes Time Travel and Fail-safe as their own TB-per-month inputs, because they are the two that quietly grow after you have stopped thinking about them.
• Data transfer costs vary by transfer type: cross-region, cross-cloud provider, internet egress, and transfer between accounts. Egress is the most expensive of the four.
• Multi-cluster warehouses scale between your minimum and maximum cluster count based on load. The calculator has no way to know your real load curve, so it estimates compute at the midpoint of the minimum and maximum you enter. If your clusters sit near the minimum most of the month, this overstates; if they pin at the maximum, it understates.
• Serverless is offered as a warehouse type, but Snowflake bills it per second of actual usage. This calculator applies the same per-hour formula it uses for standard warehouses, so treat a serverless estimate as an upper bound based on the hours you enter rather than a true per-second figure.
• All prices are in USD.

The rates the calculator uses are list prices, not your contract. Snowflake discounts meaningfully at commitment tiers, and the region you pick is used here to organize the region menu per cloud provider rather than to vary the credit price. Actual costs may vary based on usage patterns and specific requirements — treat the total as a planning estimate and reconcile against your own account's rate card before you budget against it.
